Star Cornerback Selected to Elite 7 Team

AHS Defensive back Dejon Rowe was selected to be a part of Fulton County’s Elite 7 team after his stellar performance on the Varsity football team this past year.
Fulton County recognized Rowe after the strong performances he displayed throughout his junior year. Additionally, Rowe has been working out in front of various college coaches which helped him gain the county’s recognition.
“I work extra hard everyday before and after practice, and I was selected because I had a lot of defensive tackles the whole year,” Rowe said.
Rowe has been participating in intense workouts this past summer in order to stand out amongst the best defensive players in the area. Varsity head coach Jacob Nichols attributes much of Rowe’s success to his strong diligence both on and off the field.
“He wants to be the best that he can be, and he definitely has that in his work ethic,” Nichols said.
Coaches and scouts have begun to notice the great amount of effort that Rowe has been putting into improving his game as well. Just before his senior season began, Rowe was tasked with transitioning from playing cornerback to starting as free safety for the Raiders. Coach Nichols has been impressed with the ease that Rowe has handled the position change with.
“We can put him out there against anybody, and we know that he has it on lockdown,” Nichols said.
The trust that the coaching staff has placed in Rowe has been noticed by several college scouts and coaches who have begun to check him out. Recently, Rowe received his first official offer from Valdosta State.
“I want to make the all-state football team and break defensive records. I am definitely looking forward to playing at the college level next year,” Rowe said.
