AHS Gets In the Cloud with Microsoft Office 365

Microsoft Office 365 accounts intends to be available to students schoolwide at AHS very shortly. This program is meant to have students, businessman, and everyday people be able to obtain all of Microsoft’s available software in one place called the cloud.
The cloud is a place in the technology world where almost anything can be saved without having to be on a flashdrive. Because of the cloud, the software is able to be convenient for the students at all times on any device they choose that is connected to a registered account. Students should be expected to have these accounts by the middle of this semester.
“ I think the students will embrace this, it’s like Google Docs but only better,” Jeff Macko, Technology Specialist at AHS, said.
This program is being offered to students for the sole purpose of producing and organizing documents such as a essay or project. Microsoft Office 365 can be used for many different subjects and can add as a presentation aid for the work that precedes with it. All the work done in these accounts is automatically stored to a built in cloud system.
“One of the biggest perks of Office 365 is that you can save your files in Office and access them from your other devices without having to carry a flash drive,” Sam Schillaci, Healthcare Field Technician, said.
Besides storing your documents, Microsoft Office 365 incorporates assorted in-program applications to help with the overall look and format of your projects, presentations and essays. Office has distinct applications for each individual account based on the 365 package AHS students will receive.
“Office 365 also allows you to search inside of Word for templates that you can use. If you are making a resume, for example, it can save you a lot of time by doing all of the formatting for you,” Schillaci said.
This is a technology upgrade many other surrounding schools have been given by the Fulton County Schools Department, and this is one of the technologies that make up a lot of real world presentations and writings to date
“The physical space that [you] have can be anywhere because the next day [you] could be in Montgomery Alabama and so it’s the same thing, [you] just need a place to work,” Macko said.
